This is a 1956 Chevy 3200 1/2 ton Longbed pick-up.  We purchased it in August 1995, as you see it in the first 2 photos.
Following these first photos, is a step by step photo history of the retoration.    Page updated- Sept.99

265 V-8

All Rust was replaced with welded in metal parts.  No fiberglas or bondo.

Everything sand blasted

Inner panels black

Everything was taken off the truck, except the cab itself.

Frame was sand-blasted then painted black

The finished look. Tires are from Coker, radials made to look stock.

All chrome parts replated. Red & Blue highlights hand-painted.

Interior is stock, except for carpeting. AM radio was hardest thing to find. Pickup radio different from car. And not many came with it. bed3.JPG (15931 bytes)

Oak bed with 8 coats of  marine varnish. Held in place by polished stainless steel bed strips.

Have just broken away from the "Stock" theme. I drive this truck daily, in the Chicago suburbs, even in the winter.  I finally bit the bullet this summer and had a twelve bolt 3:08 posi-traction rear-end installed. Helps the   highway speed and traction immensely.
